We’ve all been enjoying our time off here at the PBL Times headquarters, conveniently located at the bottom of the Gowanus Canal between Union and Third Streets. Spring has finally sprung in the rest of the country as summer dawns upon Perry Roehm.

Speaking of Spring, the PBL traveled northeast this past weekend as the New Orleans ‘Boners. Thank you to the @carolinasandlotcollective for inviting us to play at Durham Athletic Park — the former home of the Durham Bulls and Susan (Sarandon). It was a beautiful weekend with beautiful weather and the ‘Boners reigned supreme as the crowd favorites.

On the subject of Interleague Play, the @eastaustin_ramblers are coming to town May 18th and 19th to try their hands at springtime baseball in New Orleans. Will it rain? Will it be 100°? WIll you come out to play and buy merch? Two games will be played according to Chef Dan: the Ramblers versus the PBL on Saturday the 18th at 5pm and just the @gentilly_giants_pbl on Sunday the 19th at noon. See you out there at the Jolly Green Rind 🍉🫡

How will the algorithm ever reward us for making a

How will the algorithm ever reward us for making an Instagram post so late in the evening on a Thursday night? I think we have just a few more years before all of your people managers are replaced by AI. So, we’ll just have to enjoy the short time we have together in violation of the algorithm’s best practices while we debate how much to tip our delivery drivers instead of seeing them as pioneers in the my-boss-is-an-app future we’re headed.

Speaking of living in humanity’s backslide, the Orioles have made things a bit brighter with their Dong Bongs. It just begs the question, if you want to go to Dong City, are you brave enough to Dong Bong home plate at Perry Roehm? One thing is for sure, this dong is ready to ding. See you all out there this weekend and see the rest of you in Durham next weekend! Bring your Dongs and bring your Bongs 😶‍🌫️

Week Four has come and gone and no PBL team is doi

Week Four has come and gone and no PBL team is doing quite as bad as the Mets. Yes those once Locomotives turned Pondscum have us all questioning if “Mets” is not a reference to those fabled Metropolitans, but instead an acronym for something much more derisive. This fair, humble reporter can confirm that those orange and blue hats have all but vanished from the subway and have been replaced with hushed utterances of “My Entire Team Sucks.” But enough about the Mets. We all know Harrison Bader’s 7 Train glove will carry them to much greater glory and higher merchandise sales than any PBL team’s meager online store.

Week Four was a week of drama in the PBL. Teams have fallen short in their first loss as others celebrate their first win. Still other teams slouch toward a fate worse than those lovable Kings of Queens. When naming MLB clubs, only Twins fans list their team before the Royals — as the Expos live on in infamy. Is this regular National League superiority, or is there a lesson to be learned about the value of having fun in baseball? I’ve personally never met anyone from KC but not many people talk about traveling to watch baseball there.

PBL Post 3/28

It’s the greatest day of the year which means it’s time for us to reflect on how regular season games can be played during the middle of spring training. So, let us take this joyous opportunity to learn from recent and developing events. Just as a reminder to all players and coaches: betting on baseball is strictly prohibited in the PBL (per this reporters interpretation of Rule 1-1). Pete Rose will never be a PBL Hall of Famer (for more reasons than one, honestly).

But we aren’t here to read drivel that presumes itself tongue-in-cheek. We’re here to read about the weather and the return the weeknight game. The lights are back on and the high school kids have cleared out of Perry Roehm. Yes yes, the weeknight game has returned and blessed our midweeks with the dose of baseball we need right at the onset of withdrawal. And a number of these weeknight games have already been played, their scores lost to time, affecting the standings in ways we’ll never understand.

It’s Thirsty Thursday and I know you are parched

It’s Thirsty Thursday and I know you are parched, wishing you could suckle at the sweet nectar that is this sandlot baseball social media account. Fear not, I shall quench thy thirst.

After much ado about rain below sea level, games are on record and we breathe the sweet relief of standings. Lo how we’ve missed thee; thee that transforms our mortal souls from baseball players to winners or losers. Though, we won’t dwell in such a place where logic would dictate baseball games could end in ties. This league shan’t hold itself to such low standards for baseball — standards only often seen after paying $149.99 and using a VPN.

Moving on, this past Sunday saw it all. Two big 8th innings, a walk-off strikeout, and a walk-off bunt! This is what the people want, this is what the people crave: baseball played in its smallest, most pure form. How can you not fall in love? How can you not revel in the bleachers of camaraderie basked among the new green walls, the white lines on red clay, and — of course — those dark, blackened bathrooms? The watermelon that is Perry Roehm has shared its magic once again.

Can you believe it? You get a little too hot in Ju

Can you believe it? You get a little too hot in June and suddenly baseball schedules are being dropped in February.

That’s right folks, the PBL returns from its slumber to challenge the MLB in a ‘who can open their season first’ competition. Not only that, this season we test the productivity levels of a remote workforce for ourselves as this fair and humble reporter comes to you from an undisclosed location slightly further from Perry Roehm than Pal’s Lounge. Will a smaller tv, legal cannabis, and a volume of alcohol that can only be described at this present time as “under control” affect unwavering admiration and fandom of sandlot baseball? Well, there’s plenty — although fewer than you think — of Mets fans around to ask.

Another season has come to a close here in New Orl

Another season has come to a close here in New Orleans. Last week, the Rougarou celebrated their first championship win before one final bout of rain drove the fans home and extinguished the fire.

Yes, it was a splendid morning matchup after a period in which the Baseball Gods seemed to not want the season to end. Now, with the Christmas Curtain lifting — and with it our spirits — we take time to reflect and revel in joyous memories.

This fair journalist and the PBL wish all of you happiness and cheer. Many happy returns to all of you. 2024 is shaping up to be a great year for baseball. Stay tuned for all the fun to come — like official reviews from New York 👀.

It’s that special time of year again. That time

It’s that special time of year again. That time where we all reflect on what we’re grateful for and that time to remember the first Thanksgiving. Yes, we here at the PBL look back in remembrance of Jesus breaking bread and carving the very first turducken for his disciples.

And aren’t we all disciples — disciples of baseball? We disciples are thankful for baseball and all of our PBL friends this Harvest Festival BYE week. With the regular season behind us, the playoff picture is coming into view with the traditional amount of late season chaos.

Another week, another set of winners and losers. This reporter would love to say “we’re all winners here at the PBL” but that just simply isn’t the case. If you are picking up any cynicism from your favorite journalist, congratulate yourself and thank layoffs in tech for this sunny disposition.

But we’re not here to talk about me (well, kind of), we’re here to talk about Baseball! Baseball once again presented itself as the great egalitarian upon the humble and hallowed grounds of Perry Roehm. We love Perry Roehm with all its little hops. Bless you all who poop there during the 9am game.

Just a reminder, you can see yourself represented in these posts! Talk to your manager, talk to me, send little piccies of you and the homies having fun. Also, be nice to the umpires. Ask yourself and your teammates “am I or are we being nice and treating our fellow comrades and players like I want them to treat me?” There’s more than one way to be a winner and more than one way to lead. <— that’s the nice version of me making fun of you.

Well fear not baby bird, papa bird has lunch and is ready to regurgitate the partially digested worms of baseball directly into your beak. You’ve guessed it once again, baseball was played and fun was had last Sunday on a beautiful autumn day. Yes the PBL dressed up, had themselves a mascot race (your eyes do not beseech you, Baseball Mitt and Commissioner Extraordinaire Nic Schmidt took the W sliding into home), and at the time were still being somewhat entertained by a notably boring and mercifully short World Series.

Look at all those great smiles and various levels of cropping Instagram has forced upon us. Will the PBL decide once and for all a standard orientation in which pictures and videos are captured? Find out tomorrow at Perry Roehm! There is sure to be some great matchups, opinions on the Rangers, and maybe even a celebration of the release of the PBL’s favorite song “Let Me Find Out,” first gracing our ears 10 years ago.

Wow, its Friday. Can you believe it? What an absolute week of a week. "What have you been doing instead of posting about PBL," you ask? To tell you the truth, I've been playing this game 'Inis' and researching the differences between the Gregorian calendar and ISO 8601.

But let's talk about baseball that doesn't involve meme-ing the word "jawn" or defending the Astros with phrases like "everyone else was cheating too." Yeah we're looking at you, Milwaukee, but enough about that (go Snakes 🐍). Baseball has happened to us and continues to keep happening over-and-over again. Check out these pics and highlights from Sunday and teams please do not forget that it is in the rulebook that the home team is to supply beer and water to the umpires. 'Dems the rules.

What a week! A week so jam-packed with events and

What a week! A week so jam-packed with events and substance that we couldn’t contain the baseball to just one Sunday. Yes this week — and this weekend especially — taught us that no human-made events or objects could stand in the way of baseball. That’s right, no shitty job at a tech company that’s left you hollow inside, nor mass virtue signaling over conflicts that span centuries, nor a really annoying divot on the pitcher’s mound could keep us from the throws of that great art we call baseball.

And as we all know, history was made this week. Yep, the very first sweep in PBL history was settled by the Gentilly Giants against the home Fifth Ward Weebies! Three nights filled with highs and lows graced the hallowed ground of Perry Roehm and left us with a special moment in baseball history. The series also left us with broken glasses and an excellent pun to round out the first paragraph.

If you missed it, look up “throes” and realize that, much like life itself, baseball too is filled with suffering (don’t worry, its the good kind — probably).

Your fair and completely unbiased reporter has returned to New Orleans just in time to feed the baby birds their midweek Instagram fix. Waking up at 4am severely jet lagged is no match for all the joy that the little red hearts give me on this app.

Anyways, this week’s update come with a story! Giants were down 13-0 after the third this past Sunday. The Beef pitcher struck out 8 players in those three innings! Can you believe it? The Giants used the strikeout rule to level the playing field and came back to win 15-14! What an exciting game!

Our new saline overlord slowly approaches our shor

Our new saline overlord slowly approaches our shores but the People are still taking to the sandlot to pay homage to both the Baseball and the Rain Gods. Four games rife with drama and excitement were played at the great Perry Roehm this Sunday and luckily for all of the us, the only saltwater on the field was sourced from the tear ducts of those taking things a little too seriously.

But were there actually tears? Did it rain? This fair and honest reporter just doesn’t know. However, looking at these fun-filled images and videos it’s evident that fun and revelry flowed through the streets like the Murphy’s here in County Cork.

It’s Autumn and Opening Day has occurred! That’s right, the Autumnal season of PBL that we all feared would never come has arrived and joy has once again been brought the the fabled chain link of Perry Roehm!

All teams took the field and payed homage to the great American art form we all love and know as baseball. Were there upsets? Why, not? Were expectations met? Some were that’s certain. What’s important is that baseball is back and from this fair reporter calling in from the Emerald Isle can see is that a lot of people had fun and then the Blues lost.

What will happen next week?! I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Its been decided, the Blues and S9 will face off once more in the PBL Championship this Sunday. This Sunday is also Father's Day. That's right, these teams have before them a battle on two fronts: to win the Championship and to win their fathers' love. I guess the rest of us are just going to have to send a card or give dad a call or something while we watch BSJ and S9 duke it out.

Its too damn hot for the rest of us to play ball after the Champions are crowned but unsanctioned baseball is still strongly encouraged. Its BYOB this time around so get some ice and bring a few to share with all of your PBL comrades in the stands.

Also, lets call out local celebrity, William Gilbert the great-grandson of Baseball God Larry Gilbert. William threw out the ceremonial first pitch this past Sunday with his daughter. It was a pleasure showing off the stadium and for the Gilberts to sit in what is now known as the Gilbert Box on the first base line. You know, the seats directly facing our trademark "fuck u."

New Nicaraguan friends were made this weekend as well in a pickup game for the ages. Look at all those smiling faces!
